It was the third morning of watching Oswald struggle his way around the master bedroom that Ed decided he'd had enough. They were spending most nights sharing the bed (at least until Ed got up again to read) and Ed was taking note of all the ways that the house was poorly suited for Oswald's disability.
He spends a day researching and working. While Oswald's yelling at contractors and being asked to choose between three shades of white blue that all remind Ed of the lab, he checks what's possible and looks up a couple of specialists who have done work on heritage listed homes.
He then picks his moment. Oswald's in the bath after a long day and they slip inside, coming to sit by his head, next to the bath. "Home life doesn't have to be this difficult, you know. There's modifications that can be made to modernise without losing the integrity of the house."
